There is an Academic version of Riverbed Modeler (previously known as Opnet) v17.5 available from Riverbed at:
To download it register an account with Riverbed first as shown on this page, then follow the instructions. Once you install it you will need an Internet connection to get an Activation Code to enable the license.

Note that if you obtain and use the full version of Modeler rather than the Academic version, any project files that you save in the Academic version CANNOT be opened in the full version. So if you decide to use the full Modeler for a project or thesis, projects from the Academic version will not work.
The Academic version of Riverbed Modeler is installed on systems in the lab with 8GB RAM or more. As from the link above you may also install it on your own PC. The license works for 6 months.
